We were commissioned by JewelLabs Pictures to accompany an extraordinary shoot on the Fee Glacier for Squint/Opera. At an altitude of 3,500 meters, we assisted the crew with both organizational and logistical challenges.
A particular highlight of the project was the idea of filming action scenes on skis in 8K with the Sony Venice 2. Our ski DP pros Jamie and Jack Mullner mastered the challenging task of steering the 20 kg setup down the slopes. Thanks to the Sony Rialto Camera Extension System, the camera sensor could be separated from the main unit - the camera itself was carried on a special backpack, while only the camera sensor and lens were on the gimbal. In addition to the ski action shots, our Inspire 3 provided impressive drone footage, also in 8K resolution, as required by the project.
We love challenges like this and are already looking forward to the end result!
A big thank you to Viktor Perdula from JewelLabs Pictures for the great collaboration and the assignment!
