Filming at 3,500 meters above sea level - for Expo 2025 in Osaka

Watch video

In October, we were commissioned by JewelLabs Pictures and Squint/Opera to shoot the winter footage for an extraordinary film project on the Fee Glacier in Saas-Fee. The result is an impressive film about five Saudi athletes that focuses on their passion and skills. The film will be shown on a 270° screen in the Saudi Arabia Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka - an immersive format that demanded the highest technical standards.

The extreme conditions at an altitude of 3,500 meters called for tailor-made solutions - both technically and logistically. Our crew provided comprehensive support for the production on site. The realization of action scenes on skis with the Sony Venice 2 in 8K was particularly challenging. With the help of the Sony Rialto Extension System, the sensor could be separated from the camera body: The body was carried on a special backpack, while the sensor and lens were mounted on a gimbal - all at full speed on skis.

Our ski DPs Jamie and Jack Mullner mastered this task with aplomb. In addition, our Inspire 3 drone provided spectacular aerial shots in the highest resolution. For the wide 270° format, all camera movements had to be precisely coordinated and the framing rethought - an exciting challenge that we accepted with great passion.

A big thank you to JewelLabs Pictures for their trust, to producer Ryan Morgen, director Tom Law, DOP Pablo Rojo and Viktor Perdula for the great collaboration!
